Vietnamese logistics enterprises promote opportunities to cooperate with German enterprises

Logistics enterprises are very interested in the Vietnamese market, placing Vietnam as one of the 5 priority markets for development cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Within the framework of the national program on trade promotion 2022, the Import and Export Department and the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade have cooperated with the Trade Office - Embassy of Vietnam in Germany to successfully organize a promotion program in the field of logistics for 26 Vietnamese logistics enterprises from October 11 to 18, 2022 in Germany.

Trade promotion and business cooperation activities of the delegation are implemented in major German cities and states such as Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig.

On 12/10/2022, the Round Table on Economic Cooperation on Logistics Vietnam - Germany took place successfully at the headquarters of the Investment Trade Promotion Agency of Düsseldorf - NRW. Global Business.

Attending the Round Table, the Vietnamese side was Mr. Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director General of Import and Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Bui Vuong Anh, Commercial Counsellor, Vietnam Trade Office in Germany; Mr. Ngo Anh Tuan, General Secretary of Vietnam Association of Maritime Agents, Brokers and Services and representatives of 26 Vietnamese logistics service enterprises.

On the German side, participants included Mr. Karl-Uwe Bütof, High Commissioner for Economic Relations for Southeast Asia, Ministry of Economy of Dussendorf; Mr. Björn Schubert, Director of the Department of Innovation, Ministry of Economy of Dussendorf; Mr. Felix Neugart, Chief Executive Officer of NRW. Global Business; Ms. Astrid Becker, Asia Director of NRW. Global Business and representatives of a number of German businesses in the logistics sector.

Recently, the World Bank ranked Vietnam 39th out of 160 countries in the world, ranked 3/10 countries in Southeast Asia in terms of logistics activity index. However, Vietnam's logistics industry is still young with small businesses, providing services that do not yet have high added value.

"Therefore, Vietnamese enterprises are eager to learn and seek opportunities to cooperate with Germany - the world leader in logistics," Hai said.

Representative of NRW. Global Business, Ms. Astrid Becker provided a lot of information and valuable experience about logistics activities of Germany in general and North Rhine Westphalia in particular, and said that German businesses are very interested in the Vietnamese market, placing Vietnam as one of the 5 priority markets for development cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Mr. Bui Vuong Anh, Trade Counsellor provided more information to businesses on taking advantage of opportunities to further promote trade and investment exchanges, specifically from the EVFTA Agreement, from the Joint Committee on Vietnam-Germany Economic Cooperation and from the business community of the two countries...

According to Wang, Germany is the geographical center of the EU, has the largest logistics market in Europe and the most advanced transport infrastructure that makes it easier to reach more than 500 million consumers in Europe. The EVFTA agreement is a golden opportunity for businesses to exchange goods and also an opportunity to develop logistics cooperation with Germany and the EU.

Within the framework of the program, the Vietnamese logistics delegationhad a meeting with the Embassy of Vietnam in Germany; Vietnam Business Association in Germany. Vietnamese businesses have met and exchanged with overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs in Germany; learn more about Germany's potential for logistics cooperation through the Vietnamese channel - an effective bridge channel for businesses of the two countries.

In addition, the delegation also had survey sessions, visited the railway logistics center in Duisburg, visited the cargo operation center at Cologne - Bonn airport, worked with MBS Logistics GmbH in Cologne, exchanged on cooperation in the field of rail and air transport.

On October 14, the delegation had a meeting with Hamburg city leaders, representatives of the Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV) and representatives of the Port of Hamburg. On the same day, the delegation participated in a tour of Hamburg port organized by Hamburg Port Authority, learning about how to operate logistics seaport services at Germany's largest port, also known as the "gateway to the world". It is the second busiest, second busiest port in Europe in terms of TEU throughput and the 11th largest worldwide.

Before the end of the program, the delegation participated in surveys at Amazon's logistics center in Leipzig, the aviation logistics center at Leipzig Halle airport and Leipzig Exhibition and Convention Center to learn about Amazon's logistics system as well as how German air transport operates.
